A transferable vehicle energy consumption evaluation framework for quantifying vehicle electrification energy benefits

Abstract

Vehicle electrification is a major strategy by China to reduce energy consumption and emissions. However, it difficult quantify the advantages of EVs, especially in cross-regional comparisons. Based on 3-D markov chain machine learning methods, this study proposes framework evaluate benefits validates with data from two cities distinct geographical features, Tianjin Xining. The results show that EVs can achieve 16.4% 77.8%. While have significant benefits, there are regional differences. Compared internal combustion engine vehicles, battery showing greater plug-in hybrid model interpretation indicates difference stems Tianjin’s more frequent intense deceleration Xining’s varied terrain. A standardized evaluation integrates vehicle type differences essential EVs’ promotion.
